Constant expansion of its operations
1974
Ahrenkiel opens offices in Cyprus: the firm is initially engaged in managing its own and third-party vessels. Today the main task is crew management for the Ahrenkiel fleet and third parties.1977
For the first time, reefer vessels are added to the Ahrenkiel fleet. In 1988, the experience gained in this field flows into the development of a new reefer vessel type which Ahrenkiel designed with an eye to feeder traffic.1980
Ahrenkiel supervises the newbuilding of two 133,000 m³ LNG vessels, S/S No. 559 and S/S No. 564, at Kockums, Sweden.1982
A regular liner service, Ahrenkiel Liner Service, sailing between Japan, Asia and South Africa is founded.1992
Expansion of the company’s liner service by acquiring the New Zealand Orient Line (NZOL) which merges with Tasman Asia in 1999 to become the Tasman Orient Line on which Ahrenkiel held the shares until 2009.
